Re: Car Insurance - does anyone else get confused?

I always use the comparison sites and never have any trouble.

It's when you get two sites with the same company quoting different amounts, you then have to look through the policy details & find out what if anything differs, even if I save them I still can't see the difference then you find it hiding there! I should have gone for the free meerkat, simples!

Re: Car Insurance - does anyone else get confused?

It was earlier this year when I put up a thread about car insurance, and everybody was shocked, because my fully comp insurance was lingering around the £700 mark on my 11 year old car, which has done a mere 34,000 miles.

I mentioned it at work to my boss, and he immediately got onto a comparison website and within about 10 minutes he'd found one perfect for me, at just over £300 a year with Liverpool Victoria, with the same cover.

I'd been with the previous one for years and hadn't really paid much attention so just carried on with it. It does pay to shop around, but confuse.com can still be confooosing!

I never use comparison sites, I just go with one insurer and stick with them. I started using Direct Line in 1989 and have never left them, in fact they have insured my Peugeot 405 since I bought it new in 1994 and still do today. Think of the No Claims Bonus I must have

Err....16 years
It depends what company you are with. it could be 5 years.
Once you reach their time for maximum no claims you remain there.

That's true what Jimmy says. Many insurance companies only take 5 years of no claims into account which doesn't seem at all fair.

Direct Line I'm back with them, they put premiums up a lot a few years ago & now they're down again. I think it's 9 years no claims with them.

Re: Car Insurance - does anyone else get confused?

I was wrong with my first quote, the maximum is 9 years.
After having a couple of years without a car, and then starting anew in 1979, I have had 34 years without a claim, but I am only down for 9 years NCB on the insurance document.
