Promises! Promises! Promises!

Seems like there is a sort of bidding war going on right now
between ALL the political parties!
Looks like UK is going from rags to riches overnight??
The Swinson woman is now offering a 30 billion bonus for
public services, paid for by the economic growth caused by
REMAINING in the EU???
Does'nt the silly cow know we have been in theEU for the last
40 odd years??
And these people want to be in charge, and indeed ARE in
charge!!??
Regards Donkeyman!
PS.l hope voters are not swayed by all these bribes, l feel insulted
by it all!!

I honestly don't listen to any of it any more Donkeyman. I have seen enough Governments come and go to know they are talking bullsh*t but I suppose they are appealing to young voters, who still think politicians are people to look up to.

Regards Longdogs.

That's what really gets me the most DM. These people are so thick, they think WE are too. Ok, some are I suppose but most of us can see right through their little schemes, lies and bullshit.

DM,

Are we losing sight of the fact that all of these "Political Promises" are just advertising.

The thing about advertising, as the manufacturers of everything, from toothpaste to motor cars, know is that it works.

They wouldn't be spending massive money on it otherwise.

Nobody stops buying things because they don't come up to the standard suggested in the ads.

We don't have to believe a story which tells us that a certain hair shampoo makes us look better than everyone else.

What is a fact, in my opinion, is that we react to the ones who are getting the name of the product under our noses more than others.

That's exactly what the politicians are trying to do.

They don't even have to pay the media to put their stories out!

The more outrageous, the more the media shove it out, the more the public get to read about it.

Re: Promises! Promises! Promises!

I know it has been said many times but if only these people could be held to account for their election promises. It would be interesting to see what bribes they would offer then.

Re: Promises! Promises! Promises!

Private Eye had a funny little piece in it, in which Javid says that since the Tories have a reliable and proven track record of ditching their manifesto promises as soon as they get into power, they're the more financially prudent party. He goes on to say that the country would become ruined if any manifesto promise was actually carried out. Although meant to be satire, there's a certain degree of truth in this!!
