See my response above, any comment from the Loony left on what is happening to the NHS in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Wales?

Re: Telling it as it is!!!

I appreciate Hawking, as a physicist and a scientist thinks he has all the answers, perhaps I'll believe him when he comes up with ideas on how to pay for it.

I have said this many times and over the past few months and the Conservative party have said as much. The Conservatives value the NHS and want to keep free at the point of use but somehow it has to be paid for. Letting private companies take up some of the slack is a good way of easing the burden on the taxpayer. It is not privatising the NHS.

The fact that Labour voters choose not to believe it doesn't make it any less true. It merely means that it suits their agenda.

Re: Telling it as it is!!!

Jeremy Hunt has accused Stephen Hawking of a “pernicious” lie after the physicist said it seemed the Tories were steering the UK towards a US-style health insurance system.

Who is the liar ?

Take a look HERE

And HERE is the source from the horses mouth.

They are slowly selling off the family jewels.

Who would YOU believe ?

How about the Health Minister Jeremy Hunt ?

Our ambition should be to break down the barriers between private and public provision, in effect DENATIONALISING the provision of health care in Britain, so extending to all the choices currently available only to the minority who opt for private provision.
Instead of Tinkering with a fundamentally broken machine [the Conservative Party] should offer to update the model, setting out in warm optimistic tones, its vision for a healthier Britain.
LINK to the book co authored by Mr Hunt

And this is the plan......................

(1) Slowly run the service into the ground.

(2) Facilitate a media onslaught so that that public believe that the system and the workers within are failing them.

(3) Gradually usher in private enterprise in the name of ‘efficiency and safety’.

And it's as clear as the nose on Jeremy's face.

Re: Telling it as it is!!!

What I understand Hunt to be saying is not denationalising the NHS but a mixture of private and public health care which he proposes as the way forward, if indeed he said any of it, since the sources for your information seem to be not a book but left wing documents and Blogs. In addition at least one of your references was written 11years ago. This is not nationalisation just a better use of resources

We already have this mixture of private and public health care

A few weeks ago my sister had an operation on her knee. she was referred by the NHS to a private hospital locally. After the operation she was referred back to the NHS who referred her for physiotherapy to another private clinic, at of all places the local football club. The treatment she had was "excellent" she says and the whole business was completed in a matter of weeks and paid for by the NHS.

That is what Hunt means by a mixture of private and public health care, the providers working together seamlessly to provide one service. Tell what is wrong with a system such as I've described which will ease the congestion in the NHS

Labour keep putting about this lie that this would be the start of an inferior service. Why? Because they think they can frighten people to vote for them.

Re: Telling it as it is!!!

Most sane people don't want a mish mash of private and public care, we realise that will mean shiving off the profitable services for shareholders to make money on and leaving NHS with the expensive things that will destroy it eventually.

There is a healthy private service anyone can use if they can afford it, we use private dentists, opticians, foot care and physiotherapy because we can afford to do so hoping that frees up time and money for services for people need them. Nothing stopping others doing that and going even further if they can afford to.

But if you can't afford it those things must be free on NHS !

Go private by all means if you can but don't privatise the NHS.

Re: Telling it as it is!!!

Hi

The NHS started off as good thing, free treatment for those genuinely in need .

Now we have a huge bureaucracy, layer upon layer of management, to no useful purpose.

We have boob jobs and IVF to pay for, get ratted out of yourhead through drink or drugs and you are treated free of charge.

We are losing around £3 Billion a year by not charging Immigrants which we can do.

We do not even check that they have medical insurance before they land here.

Sort that out first and I would willingly pay more.

I have received 'private' health care, I was sent about 12 miles to get a scan, that could have been done at my local hospital.......if they funded it rather than paying a private company to do the scan...........it doesn't make financial sense does it......for the NHS......it does for the rich health care providers who can cherry pick what service maximises profit for the shareholders.

Have you ever seen a private A and E ?
NO!!! because there is no money in it for the providers.
