Re: Still argue ing!! HS2!!
Too many vested interests in this scheme to let it drop, too many people going to make too much money who care not a toss whether the scheme is value for the taxpayer. But call a national referendum on the subject and I'd bet there would be a resounding dump it vote for HS2 for one in favour of spending big money on upgrading existing lines and rolling stock...Re: Still argue ing!! Re: Still argue ing!! HS2!!
There has already been three years of preparation going on round here, moving Gas Mains, Pylons etc etc, this and Land Procurement (already done) must be responsible for the Lions Share of the cost, so, regardless of further discussion, or cost increases, it's probably a bit late in the day now.Re: Still argue ing!! Re: Still argue ing!! HS2!!
Until recently, I was really in favour of HS2. Not because of the 20 minutes savings that it would bring commuters, but because a new rail link creates railway stations, which means houses are built, which means, shops open, which leads to industry and industrial estates, which leads to jobs, which leads to investment etc etc.Re: Still argue ing!!
