Fairytale Frighteners?

Did any fairy tales frighten you as a child? Which one(s) and why?

The only fairytale character that frightened me was Jack Frost - in my room, scribbling on my windows - whilst I was sleeping no less and, from pictures I'd seen of him, he looked a bit of a dodgy character!
Seriously wasn't happy about him.

No I wasn't spooked by Fairy Tales - I loved them Nowadays, I don't like spooky films though

Nowhere near enough - which is why I was reading H.P.Lovecraft by the age of 11.

I used to be "deliciously frightened" by Hansel and Gretel. Although it's a nursery rhyme rather than a fairy story, I didn't like the Humpty Dumpty rhyme at all.

Re: Fairytale Frighteners?

My brother and me were brought up on old ghost stories told by our grandmother, so we weren't easily frightened, but I remember at the cinema being terrified of the witch in 'Snow White' rubbing her long scrawny hands over the apple she wanted Snow White to eat, that scared the life out of me on the big screen.

'giggle' ...yea the big screen can have that impact - as a teenager used to love seeing a scary movie with my pal just to have a 'little scream' - such fun
