Re: Is A Liar, Born Or Made?

Thinking about it, l suppose some of us aren't altogether truthful when people ask, how we are. We will probably answer, 'Fine, Thank You', when in fact we are feeling wretched!

I tend to say that I'm not fine but I won't bore them with it! In the hope they won't talk about their ailments.
Doesn't usually work though

And, oh, the tangled webs we weave when first we practice to deceive. Like that line? I made it up myself. Just now. Honest.

My belief, they are traits we learn as children and if they serve us well, we continue throughout our lives. As anything in life, even if the reward is short lived, it's the reward we think we are getting from the deception. Truth and honor are traits we should emphasize with our children growing up.

Re: Is A Liar, Born Or Made?

I have always told lies.

I told my kids that Father Christmas would come down the chimney.
That there was a Tooth Fairy.
That there was an Easter Bunny.
Every story I told them that began, 'Once upon a time...'

If I met you in a shop, I might well say, 'I like that dress.' or 'You're looking well today.'

Sometimes, even we adults don't want to hear the truth. A good and thoughtful liar is better than a tonic.
'Does this dress make my bum look big?'
'No, dear, you look just fine.'

I am a pathological liar.
... or am I?

Re: Is A Liar, Born Or Made?

Isn't the inability to lie, one of the signs of autism, but, in this extreme, what you got would not necessarily be the truth, or would it?
