The 39 billion was a good example, it was supposed to be in exchange for a Canada style trade deal, that Tusk offered and then took away.
EU and only the EU is to blame for mess they are in.

From January 1st this nonsense ends.

France takes 84 percent of the quota for cod in the English Channel while the UK is allowed only nine percent, according to Barrie Deas, the CEO of the National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations.

He explained that the extortionate quotas need to be ironed out in a Brexit trade deal between the UK and EU. It comes as the bloc wants to see the status quo maintained for fishing access and quotas, but the UK Government wants Britain to have controls of its own waters.

The EU are negotiating with us as if they think they own our waters

So, the English tease them about eating something that seems extraordinary and weird to them. It is much like how we are known as ‘les rosbifs’ (roast beefs) because that is a typical English dish."
Yes, of course. It doesn't upset me in the least to be called a rosbif.

I'm afraid some people, though, are quite easily upset.

It's reaction to attitudes like those who are supposedly easily upset on behalf of others that have led to Brexit and will lead to reforms of our Civil Service and the House of Lords.
