Windows 10X should arrive by June!

A streamilned version of W10.

Not so many tools, a smaller start menu, without Tiles, being built for smaller folding devices some new ones of which will be outed at the same time.

I guess that they are pushing competition with Google Chromebook, etc.

Apparently, 10X will load quicker, and install quicker.

And will work where any other W10 machine will work, as well.

Also Apparently, users having an intel processor and running W10 Pro, with 15GB of spare storage space are able to use this already.

That's possibly where the insiders are lurking, up to now.

"Streamlined" they say?

Isn't it great how as memory tech advances so that we can have ever-larger capacity so too the OS expands and takes up more of that memory.
Who remembers the days when a full-fat installation of Windows 95 took only 55 megabytes?

The Windows version for phones wasn't very successful (and I've had a Windows phone) so let's hope they have learned from their past.
IMHO the phone OS was good; the only thing that let it down was apps compared to Android.
Or rather the lack of them on Windoze; let's hope we don't have the same problem with this.

It's about time we had a serious large-scale competitor for Android and iOS but only time will tell if Win10X becomes or leads to that competitor.

If it really will work effectively, responsively and quickly using 15GB of storage space that's a start; I read somewhere that Android (10, not 11) used 25GB just for system files on somebody's phone.
Google Chrome netbooks need somewhere around 7GB but they're not exactly the best in terms of user experience.

Personally I'm not going to rush out and try it, but if the opportunity arises I won't say "no".

I wouldn't say no if I could use it on my PC in place of the Windows 10 bloatware that's running on it now.

I agree. Also if they are capable of making W10 load faster why didn't they include it in one of their numerous, (otherwise pointless), updates?

I do wish they would leave things alone I delay any updates then only accept security updates everything else I deleted.

I don't want any 'extras' I like things as they are.

I think it is totally optional, Megs.

MS Has now scrapped The introduction of W10X.

Re: Windows 10X should arrive by June!

I had a Windows phone and thought it pretty good. A shame it faded away.

I had an upgrade disk for upgrading to W.95 on top of Windows 3.11. Eventually found there was no need install 3.11 first. That would probably have saved some disk space, which was not too plentiful at the time.

Windows 10 takes up 22GB. Still only a fairly small percentage of disk space, even on SSDs. Lots of room left for programs and files. Linux Mint's system requirements are 9GB of disk space but 20GB is recommended.

I've got Mint running with a few additional programs installed, plus some photo and music files. About 66GB of disk space is used. Windows 10 with more programs installed on it than on the Linux computer is using 119GB. W.10 is not so bloated perhaps. I still rather favour it over Linux Mint. More disk space needed but a better system to use (in my opinion).

My PC is showing an invitation to upgrade to Windows 10 21H1 but from what I've read, there isn't any reason to upgrade. Anyone else got this message?

I've just updated to 21H1 - it took 2 minutes (on my oldest PC) and, AFAIK, has little or no effect on the way I run my PC .....

An ‘underwhelming’ Windows 10 21H1 arrives
