Reiki

No doubt some posters on this forum have experienced Reiki. Did it do it for you?

In the early part of this century someone we knew was training as a Reiki therapist and was anxious the try it out on people of their acquaintance. My husband and I aren't into alternative therapies, but just to please her we said we would be guinea pigs.

We didn't enjoy it at all, it made us feel really chilled, and we would never repeat the experience. She also did a session with our Down's Syndrome son, she claimed she could feel two hearts beating in his chest, YEH RIGHT!

Re: Reiki

I have had a reiki head massage twice in my life

They were both wonderful, relaxing experiences
The first was at a time when I had suffered a lot of sadness in my life and that massage brought me to slow tears.
I felt quite "healed" by it

Re: Reiki

I used to have regular Reiki massages and I enjoyed them very much.
I always found them very relaxing.

Like you, I knew someone who was training as a Reiki massage therapist.
She needed a certain number of regular clients to complete her practical training, so I agreed to be one of her "guinea pigs" for a weekly massage over a couple of months.

The more practised she became, the more relaxed I felt.
I enjoyed them so much, I continued as a regular client after she had fully qualified and she only charged me "mates rates"

I've usually found any kind of massage relaxing, so I'm not convinced the "Reiki" approach is any more beneficial than any other kind of body massage.

One thing I did experience during a Reiki massage sometimes, which I've never experienced with other kinds of massage, is an awareness of my senses being flooded with certain colours. (I think these are known as "chakras")

I can't really explain it well but, sometimes I would be laid there with my eyes closed, all relaxed, and "see" the colour purple or blue all around me, inside my head. A few times, I "felt" a column of white light flowing up my body and "saw" it flow out through the top of my head.
It sounds ridiculous but that's how it seemed at the time. I hadn't heard of "chakras" before I experienced these colours, although I've read about them since and am sceptical of some of what I've read.
I don't have any particular views about what they mean, if anything. All I know is that I experienced it and it felt incredibly relaxing. I was left feeling wonderful, de-stressed and content.

Good for you Rhian. No doubt it worked for you because you are open to some positivity in life.

Re: Reiki

Our middle daughter and her eldest lad do a very pleasant head massage of which I avail myself when they visit.

Re: Reiki

My daughter has trained as a Reiki practitioner. And like someone has already mentioned. Just needs a few clients for qualification experience.

Re: Reiki

About 10 years ago now, I qualified in Reiki 1 and 2, plus Seichem, plus Animal Healing.

I got the insurance to practice, but let it go as I was never brave enough to practice professionally.

Boot, I have never heard it referred to as a 'massage'?
It is hands on healing of the body and aura, but not a massage to my knowledge.
In fact, some practitioners do not even touch you at all, they work more on auras.
Personally I prefer contact though - but no massage. That is a separate treatment altogether.

I am glad you enjoyed it though, you must be a spritiual lady to sense the colours and chakras. Good for you.

Re: Reiki

Friend Lynne is a reiki healer , I've had a few treatments and although she doesn't actually touch my body I can feel little electric shock like feelings shooting through my body and head , it's a lovely feeling and yes I get colours too . It's very expensive to train as a reiki healer nowadays .

You need to have a natter with Mrs F Mups. She has been into this kinda thing for years, as is her father.
