Then he better look for an other job. Being a member of Nato the UK is exclusively waging war for other countries. Unless you're talking of the Falklands or the employment in northern Ireland.

No what had better happen is we should vote for less warmongering politicians. At the moment hes peacekeeping which means help to build schools and infrastructure in war torn country, he's happy enough doing that thanks no need to leave his job.

He could do that as a civil engineer. He need not bring a gun to the job.

Seems a bit tragic that it was not before 1973 that his own country was admitted. But justice prevailed.
What a pity his descendants threw it all away in 2016.

It was also Churchill who would first moot the idea of a ‘European army’ designed to protect the continent and provide European diplomacy with some muscle. Furthermore, the European Court of Human Rights was created in 1959 — a decade after Churchill first championed the idea.
Providing the inspiration to the people of Europe as the binding factor in the allied fight against Nazism and fascism, Winston Churchill consequently became a driving force behind European integration and an active fighter for its cause.

Wash your mouth out with soap and water when putting down our British servicemen (and women).
You may say what you want when discussing armies as a whole, but you shame yourself by getting personal about Julie's son doing his duty as a valued member of the British Armed Forces!

I loathe war, despise the army, but have a high regard for the men and women who on a day to day basis put their lives on the line. My son is one of them.
However, we have a voluntary army, just as you. No one forced them to fulfil their duty to their respective countries with arms in hand.

Of course we will still participate in a European army. This country couldn't survive a war of any magnitude on its own. As I have said so many times there is safety in numbers and we need each other.

At last, a voice of enlightenment.

Let them get on with it. We'll take whatever is thrown at us when we leave, Par for the course. we've faced much worse.
Yes, of course.

I sincerely hope that we do escape, although May and treacherous powers in this country are doing their best to prevent it.

After that happens, I really couldn't care less about Europe.

If the EU project continues to go ahead as expected, each individual European country will have to decide how far things go for them. Good persuasive tactics by the EU and those politicians who are in favour of it will decide.

Perhaps all will be rosy and everyone will be happy. They will end up with the much vaunted United States of Europe. Perhaps many in the richer states will be quite happy to continue to subsidise the people of the poorer states. Perhaps eventually everything will become equal and, in the lack of any perceivable independent states, everyone will become simply 'Europeans'. That would be sad, as one of the attractive things about Europe is the interesting range of different cultures. Of course, there will be savings: no need for separate national parliaments.

On the other hand, I imagine that Greece, Spain and Italy might become rather envious of the much richer Germany and its poodle.

More 'Exits' before it's too late? Or perhaps it is already too late?

One thing that MUST not happen is this country feeling sorry for the oppressed and risking our economy and even lives to offer our support.
