Weight Gain (how to gain weight)

I appreciate that many folk are valiantly trying to lose weight, and I wish everybody well in that.

However, for the last three years, I've been desperately trying to put weight on and for me that has not been easy as I am not prone to weight gain.

Over the last five years, I've had several shocks which has culminated in my losing weight. I've always been small, but my highest weight was 8.5 stone.

Because of the first shock I went from that to 7 stone, which was pretty much my normal weight, but I lost 1.5 stone in just one month which left me feeling very weak, and my clothes hung on me.

Anyway, I started to gain again up until three years ago when I found my darling partner dead, and I lost weight again.

I weighed myself last night after my shower and I am pleased to say that I'm up to 7.9 again now. I was wondering why I couldn't fasten me skirt buttons!

My goal is to get up to 8 stones, which will be more healthy for me at the age of 61.

Re: Weight Gain (how to gain weight)

Good luck, Mollie, it's harder to put weight on than people think! I know that must sound irritating to our friends here who're trying to take it off. I lost quite a bit of weight while in hospital and can't seem to regain it although I'm eating all sorts of fattening foods ...

Good luck Mollie but have you not heard, a pound of chocolate puts five pounds on the hips so that may help.

Good luck Mollie, there are plenty of "naughty but nice" foods out there that should help you put on weight.... as long as you are sensible with them.

Re: Weight Gain (how to gain weight)

I do sympathise Mollie, I go to see the dietician at the local hospital every 6 weeks or so. I follow every single bit of advice she gives me, drink those horrible Fortijuice and Calogen drinks every day and in a year I have not put on one flippin' ounce. Still under 6 stone but I feel so fit. This is down to COPD I am certain, I 'graze' all day, cannot eat a whole meal at once.

Re: Weight Gain (how to gain weight)

maryl, my COPD hasn't affected my appetite, but the food just won't go to weight. It's nice to be able to eat the fattening things but I am still skinny!

Maybe we should start a trying to gain thread ....

Eileen, a new thread would be better, I feel a bit guilty writing in this one.
