Water rates

Just wondering how much the rates vary over the UK

I recently changed to a meter but am curious to know how much the unmetered charges are currently.
I've forgotten how much I was paying before. My water company is now called 'Affinity'

Re: Water rates

Funny you should ask that. I'm not sure if i mentioned this (probably not) when talking about moving my mobile provider - with my neighbour.

I am with Thames Water, and my monthly charge is £7, reduced from £14 at the beginning of this year. However. My neighbour upstairs pays 3 times as much as me!! I asked her how could this be. She has a counter top dish washer, which is maybe used 3 times a week, but even so. What a difference.

My meter was replaced not long ago (within the last year) so the readings are accurate. Presumably.

Re: Water rates

Hello Rachel - my annual charges were a couple of years ago, not got the current bill, as follows 26.00+ 56.00 + 13.00 for sewerage, surface water drainage etc + any usage. Under 250.00 a year with Severn Trent so not bad at all.

Edited to add - we were paying a lot more than that before the meter but don't have the bill for that period..

Re: Water rates

I am also with Severn Trent and my bill is £550 per year
I don't pay for surface water either, that goes into a soak away.

Re: Water rates

Water charges, bad words over here at the moment Rachel.

There is a fierce battle going on against the introduction of double charges and the people are winning big time, they reckon there will be over 250,000 at the main protest on Dec.10. the wife and me included. The protesters come from all over the country in small groups like this one and meet up in the centre of Dublin.
We already pay for water through local taxes and a higher VAT. rate than the rest of Europe.

Re: Water rates

That seems a bit steep, Meg - a meter maybe? Think you can try it and if it's no better they remove it, I managed to get my daughters bill reduced for single occupancy when she had a yearly bill.
