Hi

Recess is not the same as being shut down.

Parliament can still sit in recess if it so chooses.

It cannot sit whilst prorogued.

The issue seems to be as to whether Boris prorogued for a Queens Speech, which is normally for a week or was the 5 weeks for a different reason.

I have no idea about which way this will go.

Normally the house is in recess this time of year for party conferences. That is a temporary measure, that can be lifted at any time at the wish of mps. The chairman of the assembly, known as the speaker, reconvenes the assembly and the deliberations carry on. Any recess is often at the request of mps, and in general agreement.
During prorogation only the government is at work, busy with writing the queen's speech. Mps doing their normal thing, gathering energy for coming sittings.
