Re: New Years Eve?
Re: New Years Eve?
Staying at home now! I loved Ne'erdys when I was little growing up in Govan - that was "our" time! We always celebrated it. Mum would make steak pie and Dad would have the calendar ready to hang at midnight - we would open the door and the windows - to let the old year out and the new one in! After dinner, we would then go down to the neighbours below us (we lived in a tenement building on the top storey) and we would take down a bottle of Scotch whisky, black bun, shortbread, a lump of coal some salt and Dad would go first - as he was tall, dark and handsome (well he was) as the first foot! Then the party would start, one of the other neighbours would play the Scottish dance music - on his mouth organ first, then the radio would play Jimmy Shand and his band, we would still be dancing at 8 am next morning! Sometimes, the local bobbies would come up during the night for a wee hauf and join in the dancing!Re: New Years Eve?
Will be at home with my Hatti girl-used to go bed before midnight until a couple of years ago when I found that if I stayed up with TV on Hatti doesn't go daft when they let all the fireworks off at 12......
