The single serving is big, I make two desserts out of that with my after dinner cup of tea.

You don't have to put milk in Yorkshire Puds. I never do. You just need the plain flour, egg, water and seasoning. Maks sure the mixture is well beaten up and you should have lovely light Yorkshies (just bear in mind that I am from Derbyshire so Yorkshire folks might not agree )

Good one! Fire is great, but what about the discovery of agriculture? We'd still be hunter/gatherers .... albeit not having to eat our meat raw!

Re: The greatest human invention

There is a view that batter puds came from France and not Yorkshire..

And how do you like yours?-all heavy so as to fill you up before a scrap of meat(poverty days) or fluffed up and crispy?

And then there is big and filled with onion gravy of course.

But for those under 25 the greatest invention must be the mobile.

In a million years folks will dig up human remains and wonder why they suddenly grew huge thumbs

That's how we ate them at home (my parents home) before the meal, then there would be more with the meal and we even had them after dinner as a sweet with either jam or lemon/orange juice and sugar.

When we came up from London I was puzzled when at a friend's house her mum gave us Yokshire pudding and asked if we wanted jam or gravy on. I didn't expect it to be separate from the main course.
