By sheer coincidence I am just reading To kill a Mockingbird ... Quite a nice book but not worth the accolades that have been collected for it since it was published IMO.A very ordinary story related by an eight year old called Scout Finch, about her life growing up in Alabama.

Got to disagree .I think its a classic of literature !
One of the most read books in the world .
I have read it many times.
Every child should read it .
And indeed many do as it has been on the school reading list for decades.
its shows all the ugly face of racism and injustice in America at that period in time .
Great film too with Gregory Peck.
Who can possibly forget those words .
“Miss Jean Louise, stand up. Your father's passin'.”

The book merely documents the happenings as part of an overall story of growing up it does not crusade for the plight of the Negroes in the state of Alabama nor condemn them.
