North Cyprus

Have any of you folks holidayed in the North of the island? I like most, have been on the Greek side, but at the weekend, will be staying near Kyrenia in the north. The flight from Manchester is made longer, because all flights have to land briefly in Turkey, before proceeding to the island.The good news is, its not in the Euro, so we should get a little more bang for our buck. Anyone been?

I haven't been to Kyrenia , John but I've been to Protaras on the east coast.

I hope you have a lovely time there and I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the north of the island

I was lucky enough to be stationed with the Royal Engineers in Cyprus in the sixties, and although we were based at Larnaca in the south, we were sent all over the island on goodwill works. One of these visits was to do some renovation work to an orphanage in Kyrenia. The town and harbour areas were beautiful, and virtually untouched by tourism.
Forty years on I hope it is just as special... happy holidays mate..

Have a good holiday John and enjoy, never been to that part but am told the folks are very hospitable.
