Sir Henry Cooper RIP

Just heard on the main news that Sir Henry Cooper, Boxer, has died, aged 76. Although not a boxing fan, had respect for him as a great sportsman and a gentleman.

RIP Sir Henry....a great British boxer....

It's a fact that "Our Enery" was every inch a nice guy, and the epitome of a generation of fast disappearing sporting legends.

I mourn his passing..

I too was sorry to hear that Henry Cooper had died. I don't know much about boxing, but I always liked to see him on the TV being interviewed. He seemed such a natural gentleman - an unassuming and genuine person and, of course, he was a Londoner. Go in peace Henry.

Re: Sir Henry Cooper RIP

Henry and his brother George ( Jim ) were blessed with the same temperament and outlook on life.

A lot of what made them the way they were was down to Jim Wicks (The Bishop) he guided them in the right way to conduct themselves and he in return made sure they were never going to get slaughtered in the ring.

Henry also had a great deal of respect for Harry Gibbs the referee and it really showed when Harry gave one of the most questionable decisions of all time to Joe Bugner.

The only reaction from him was a resigned shrug.

RIP
Enery. This bout maybe over but training starts soon.
