Re: Today I have .........

Today,I discovered iphones don't send pictures. I just can NOT understand the hype about Apple products...they're SO very 'in house' when it comes to downloads or apps,it's almost like being a mason. THEN,today [I may have mentioned this] I discover the F!#?*\NG thing,no matter what I try,is not able-nay,is NOT ALLOWED- to send pictures.....because I don't have an 'iphone account'!!! [for !!!,read £££ {or $$$ if you're from the colonies}]

Nope-stick Apple up yer chuff. I'm getting my old Nokia back out and pootling off to where Apple isn't;sending pics and videos as I stroll happily along.
With NO traumas,'special accounts',or problems.

Oh,Symbian,wherefore art thou......

Omg Pug you've said a few sweary words. I was ticked off for that on another thread and I only said one! Today I've again realised that sweary words are much better than being a horrible nasty piece of work on the fly. Nowhere near as harmless.

Swear words serve no purpose and absolutely no need for them, there are plenty of apt words to choose from, without the need to degrade yerself - its a big turn off for me .....

Re: Today I have .........

Today I've got to take my old chiming clock back to the menders, only had it home a couple of weeks. It took him 3 months to mend and service, cost the earth, and its still not running right at all. Grrr.

Re: Today I have .........

I've known a few people have a problem with their clocks when mended, didn't realise they were so complicated .....

Re: Today I have .........

Mups, I'm up to my eyes in clocks at the moment. The chimes on our Westminster chime wall clock have become 'sticky'. When I and a lot of others left our IT jobs some years ago, one colleague became a watch & clock repairer. Ten years ago, he repaired and serviced the clock for us - new springs, some new bushes etc... Mate's rates, he charged £50, but said that if it died, I should buy a new movement because it would be cheaper than repairing it. A new movement would cost around £150 today (Hermle westminter movement).

So, I've decided to build a 'Shaker style' wall clock with a quartz movement with pendulum and Westminster chime . Today, I've set up a 'test rig' with the movement to get the dimensions correct and ordered a fancy dial and hands.

Re: Today I have .........

I love to hear a nice chiming clock George.
This man put all new springs in, including the main one, and did a lot of work on it, so I hope its going to be alright. I've had it over 40 years and it was old then, but I do love to hear it. I can set it to either Westminster or Whittington, but the hammers keep getting stuck now for some reason.
