No he wasn't/isn't. Neither was he Turkish as some claim, Turkey not even existing at the time. His parents were Greek Christians, and he lived three hundred years before the creation of Islam. He was martyred in 303 A.D.

Interestingly, St George is also the saint of Portugal, and the only Anglican church in Lisbon is called St. George's, known locally as the English Church with a some notable English buried there. I've been there a few times on a Christmas morn to sing English carols.
