House of Lords Told To Do One!
The Government majority in the House of Commons has this afternoon sensibly voted against the 5 attempted Brexit wrecking tabling amendments to the Withdrawal Agreement by the Ermine clad old farts in the undemocratic House of Lords.For a House that is meant to be there solely in an advisory position, why on earth do they dare to presume the position of giving orders to the elected representatives of the people, our MP’s? They act as though they are responsible to no-one. In fact, they and the EU Commission may as well be as one.
It is surely past time that this corrupt cabal of ex-advisors and suck-up-to useless dregs were given an Ermine kick up the backside and rolled out for good. It really is time for the House of Lords to be abolished.
In place perhaps, we could have a very slimmed down Senate style House with maybe just 200 deservedly hereditary Lords, Dukes, Marquess, Earls, Viscounts and Barons. No more political has-beens and those in that house told they are there to solely advise the HOC. Nothing else!

I've been arguing for years that this place should be put out of our misery, but at the very least a mandatory retirement age should be enforced and the system of elevating people to the House should be urgently reformed, with any elevation being warranted by merit rather than sycophancy...

PD. You say the HOL is needed. For what purpose? Are they really needed? They do not make the laws of the land, They may 'advise' but they have no clout.
Sometimes there needs to be middle ground of rational discussions on both sides without interference from activists, the far left ,or indeed the far right. Whichever could be the case.

Quite often it is with leaning towards the leaders of the party and the party whips carry a lot of weight.
