Crafty sew 'n' so's

Anybody knitting, sewing or making anything interesting?
Being a "craft-addict" myself I'd like to hear (or post some pics) what anyone else is doing.

Twiz I used to sew a lot, and I dabbled in pottery but my hands are not up to it now.

My pottery was 'primitive' little animals and wall plaques mainly.
I gave the better ones away

That's super! I tried pottery, sent lots of clay flying across the room! You need flexible fingers, it's true!

I do knitting to order for the shop in Northwich. I usually get the Arans which I enjoy. I sit with my knitting, the cat on my knee (occasionally interfering ) and either a book or the TV on. Sounds sad but I find it restful............

When Betty has passed the puppy stage I'll be knitting and embroidering again, she is far to determined to help me at the moment LOL. Make a lot of my own clothes too although these days it's sometimes more expensive than buying from the supermarkets clothing ranges.

Knitting has become expensive too, Julie. If I want something for myself, I'll usually buy it.

I tend to get wool from e-bay quite a lot of people start items and never finish them so they sell it off quite cheaply.

Perhaps an odd hobby for a guy, but I enjoy 'counted cross stitch'. When I travelled a lot on business, I could easily pack a pattern and cottons - kept me out of the hotel bar! You can also buy DMC cottons in most countries.

Now, I do the odd one as a hobby - keeps the fingers supple.

Doesn't sound odd at all. My husband likes to knit or he makes lovely rag rugs and tapestries.

Re: Crafty sew 'n' so's

Nice to hear about men knitting, didn't sailors used to do it years ago. Knitting and crochet are very good for keep hands supple.
I'm at it again, 4 things on the go, Victorian riding jacket for my Steampunk outfit, more decorated boxes, just finished a chicken pot holder and knitting my grandson a cardi. I do this with library books too, read 2 or 3 at once! Oh! I forgot my ongoing "altered book" project for library competition, involves a lot of drawing! That's 5! No time for housework - that's my excuse!
