Fitted carpets or hard floors

I do prefer fitted carpets and would love cream carpets throughout but totally impractical with three dogs so have stripped and polished floorboards with large rug in sitting room and rugs in hall to stop them slipping over.

I can't get wooden floors because I am in a flat and even although I bought my flat, the owner of the building doesn't allow it - noise on neighbours! I prefer my fitted carpets though - much warmer in winter!

Hardwood floors, rugs (Oriental or Oriental-look).

Kitchen and the utility room have hard wood floors, the Bathroom has a tiled floor but the rest of the house has fitted carpets, even the garage. Like Rosemary says, they are warmer in winter.

Carpets except in Bathroom and Kitchen. Have considered having laminate flooring because of Hatti's allergy to House Dust Mites, but seeing how she runs from room to room when she's having a mad 2 minutes, it would be my luck that she slips and breaks a leg! Carpets will have to stay............

I love the comfort of carpets but appreciate the hygiene of hard flooring - especially when you have pets.

Laminate floors and leather sofas for us - the only realistic proposition when you have as many dogs as us:
