With regards to cheeky chat, there's a time and place for everything.

It's just that we now have a dedicated place for it

..not just chat but animations.
Not everyone has fast broadband and they can be really annoying popping up all over the place slowing down the ability for some members to read and take part in the conversations which is the main reason they are here.

The animations do not always show on a tablet, hence huge empty gaps when trying to understand the posts. Surely they can be limited on the main forum to mainly birthday threads?

As long as they are not in serious discussions and used appropriately (i.e relevant to the post) I think it's ok

Hopefully anyone using them will try to use them sparingly in threads not specifically about them - in consideration of those with slower internet connections

Perhaps using links to the animations instead of posting into the thread might be a fair way round that problem ?

The problem is that some members cannot just post a comment without putting up some kind of image, video or animation and this on any section of the site. Why is it so hard to just type a comment ? Why always add "stuff" to the post ?
