I suppose this could be called a "Road" movie, apart from the title itself. It's pretty harrowing stuff, with Viggo Mortensen and his son trying to stay alive in really difficult times.
The Road is a very harrowing and extremely bleak film, John, but a great one. It's a 'road movie' without cars. Viggo Mortenson excels in the lead role. The scene where the poor black guy is stripped so Mortensen character has some clothes is especially upsetting.

As is the family trapped in a cellar and being used for food. I can imagine something happening like that after some major catastrophe.

After a nuclear war or some kind of acopalyptic disaster. Survival would be the aim at all costs; the sheer desperation to stay alive. Doesn't bear thinking about even does it Judd?
