If anyone is to blame for the chaos its the CCP, WHO, SAGE and Public Health England.

Sack Whitty and Valance, they are giving the wrong solutions.

We can all see where the "drivel" comes from; you would do well to look much closer to home and stop trying to use very sad global events as political pawns.
That is the very definition of desperation.

Hi

Really?

Their predictions have come true, in fact we are in a worse situation than their worse case scenario.

The damage to our economy is huge, and all down to Government failings.

Other Countries are doing much better.

#1 - not the government, the pandemic.

#2 - a great many countries are doing MUCH worse.

Re: 'Where is Priti Patel?'

Priti Patel 'lobbied against' plans for almost 150 affordable homes in her seat

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politi...plans-22940433

The Home Secretary reportedly opposed plans in her Witham constituency despite Tory ministers insisting they want to 'build, build, build' across the country. Ms Patel made representations to housing secretary Robert Jenrick twice this year to oppose plans in her constituency of Witham in Essex, according to the Sunday Times.

It comes despite repeated pledges by Tory ministers, including Prime Minister, to "build, build, build" to affordable homes across the UK. As part of that plan ministers are consulting on reforms that would deprive local people of the ability to oppose planned developments.

According to the paper. Ms Patel opposed at least four developments, which would have provided 141 affordable homes. She also helped opponents of plans to restore a “derelict” grade II listed building and convert it and a stable into 37 homes. A 200-home development in Tiptree was “called in” by Mr Jenrick this year. It would have provided 60 affordable homes. According to the Sunday Times, Ms Patel forwarded more than a dozen objections and “made representations.

A fourth project, to build 255 homes, 77 of them affordable, also in Tiptree, was rejected by a government housing inspector. A report dated August 18 listed Ms Patel as an “interested party” and showed her submitting two letters that were reviewed by the inspector.
Not in her back yard, eh .....

She's doing what an MP is supposed to do: representing her constituents.
As your link says:

"“As a local member of parliament Priti makes representations on behalf of constituents who have raised comments opposing and supporting planning applications so they can be considered during the process.

“Priti supports sustainable and sensible local developments including new housing, new health and education facilities and new infrastructure.”

If only more MP's had taken heed of their constituents in such a manner Brexit would have been finished two years ago.

Re: 'Where is Priti Patel?'

It seemsthat "Useless" is not the only Johnson minister to reject government policy on home ground:

Build, build, build — but not in Michael "Gormless" Gove’s back yard

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/b...yard-5z2mzb8wl
Michael Gove has sided with residents against a developer that plans to build fewer than 50 homes, nearly half of them affordable, in Bagshot, a wealthy village in Surrey that is home to Prince Edward, the Queen’s youngest son.

Gove, 53, the minister for the Cabinet Office and MP for Surrey Heath, took time off last Tuesday to attend a government planning inquiry in a “personal capacity”. “People on this video call will know that I’m a government minister and I, of course, will be bound by the conclusions of this hearing. I also recognise the broader imperative to improve housing supply,” he said, according to leaked footage of the event. “But I specifically object to this development.”

Cosy .....

Re: 'Where is Priti Patel?'

I find it odd that people criticise MPs for representing the areas in which they live.

After all, is that not what they, and all of the Council reps, committee members, etc., swear to do when they apply.

"Hey, you MPs, stop representing your Constituencies, immediately, go and represent some other area!"

Laughable!

Hands up anyone who has never joined a school Governor group, a local committee, etc., without wishing to influence the direction which that group takes.

Ah, but these are also government ministers .....

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/pm-build-build-build

PM Boris Johnson has announced the most radical reforms to our planning system since the Second World War, making it easier to build better homes where people want to live.

Ahead of the Spending Review, a new, ambitious cross-government strategy will look at how public sector land can be managed and released so it can be put to better use. This would include home building, improving the environment, contributing to net zero goals and injecting growth opportunities into communities across the country.

These announcements come alongside a package of measures to support home building across England. These include:
  • A £12bn affordable homes programme that will support up to 180,000 new affordable homes for ownership and rent over the next 8 years.
  • Included in the affordable homes programme will be a 1,500 unit pilot of ‘First Homes’: houses that will be sold to first time buyers at a 30% discount which will remain in perpetuity, keeping them affordable for generations of families to own.
  • The Home Building Fund to help smaller developers access finance for new housing developments will receive additional £450m boost. This is expected to support delivery of around 7,200 new homes.
So, they have a dilemma - government, party or constituents .....

Well, governments come and go but an MP's job can last forever, so build the houses elsewhere and keep the local party faithful happy ..... not a problem for NIMBY Tories .....

Affordable homes will bring the riff-raff in .....
