We are, the last I heard, still the same nation, the UK.

I think it is to our advantage to make whatever alliances and trade deals we can, now we're finally leaving the Empire.

Hi

Fisheries are devolved.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have vastly more fisheries than England.

The Deals we have signed with Norway and the Faroe Islands are just a continuation of what we already have when we were part of the EU.

As Swimfeeders said:

It seems to be purely an agreement to hold annual meetings. If that is a cause for celebration you have set the bar very low.

You will be ecstatic to the point of catalepsy when the UK actually signs something significant.

Another one that doesn't get it

And under the CFP quotas are allocated each year by the EU - under the UK fisheries bill, quotas are issued by the UK.

Fisheries may be devolved but the UK FISHERIES BILL governs all of it, including the devolved nations.

See...

Now we have Norway, Faroe and UK waters all managed using zonal attachment and with quota allocations provided by the UK, Norway and Faroe for each of its respective fishery.

It's completely different to the CFP.

Yes, and I have no problem with that. I'm as happy to eat Scottish, Welsh and NIrish fish as I am English fish.

Yes, of course, but with the advantage of no diktats from Brussels.

Exactly ! they will be landed in UK ports and processed in UK ports (60%) is the figure so far.

The new conservation measures favour the smaller boats, and in the last month or so, two brand new British trawlers rolled off the production line in Whitby.

The EU no longer has any control or management over fishing, which is a massive part of the EU staple diet.

Epic win !
