Covid A New Approach

Hi

A radical new approach

https://news.sky.com/story/scientist...rking-12096597

Certainly different and we could use our unused Nightingale Hospitals for Corona Patients and get the NHS back to normal quicker.

What do you think?

I can't understand why, when they built these hospitals for Covid patients they aren't being used for them. Could it be a shortage of staff & easier to have the patients in the ordinary hospitals were there are more staff? If so why build them in the first place.

Re: Covid A New Approach

If we have specialist hospitals for Covid patients, to keep them isolated from others, won't we need to keep the staff caring for them isolated too?

I listened to Boris's speech on that link but it came over as yet another party political speech.... with lots of hints on how they would change things, but no definite plans.
Everybody is totally confused about what they should & shouldn't do, but if the Tories managed to get a good plan & Labour stopped trying to tell us it was wrong, we would have a better chance!

I tend to think that if today's politicians had to go through another world war they wouldn't have a hope in hell... because they are so busy trying to prove which party is best, they wouldn't have any good ideas on how to defeat the opposing countries!

What do you think?
I think it is a no brainer Swimmy !
The only reason for not using them can only be lack of staff to
work in them?
Surely this was known before constructing them?
Maybe they planned to use military medics but were blocked??
But, yes, l believe they should be used to either treat the serious
cases of covid, or to put the vulnerable older generation?
Of the two options l prefer the first !
But that leads us to the question of how many serious cases are to
be expected if the disease runs its course, which seems likely to
happen imo ?
As we used to say,"we are in gods hands" ??

They did'nt actually build them Tiffany, they only assembled them,
They were allready prefabricated for military use in emergencies,
and were designed for easy storage and easy deployment !!
But, as you say, we need people to man them ??

Hi

I appreciate that Swim, but look how many doctors & nursing staff have died! If we put them into hospitals that only have Covid patients & then let them go home, how can we be sure they are not carrying the virus to their families & any travel they use.

If we are expected to believe that a few British people have spread this virus, unknowingly, to so many people then the only answer is to test everybody before they mix with others.

I appreciate that it may seem unfair to isolate the staff, but if you view it that way, maybe it was unfair to send young soldiers out to fight world wars, in the hope they would save many lives in Britain. Covid may not be as bad as the world wars, but it seems we are going to have it for some time, so we either have enforced isolation for all, or isolate the infected & those who look after them.

I have serious doubts about how quickly this virus has infected so many countries, but if it has been passed so easily why has nobody ever had it before? I know some viruses can mutate but if China are innocent of accusations about them creating it, why didn't they immediately isolate the whole area it occurred in? It all seems a bit shady to me!

Yikes! When ever I hear the word 'Prefab' it makes me think of the old asbestos prefabs!

This subject was mentioned a few weeks back.
I can't remember who's thread it was now, but someone asked what's the point of the Nightingale hospitals.
I remember replying at the time - "To keep Covid patients away from the main hospitals, I'd have thought!"
Why they are talking like this now, instead of 6 months ago, is beyond me.

Our local Homebase was turned into one. No idea if there are any patients inside or not.

It's all very, very shady. I don't suppose we will ever really find out what this all about.
