Corona Virus Shielding.

Hi

Loads of reports in the papers about vulnerable people having to shield, possibly for months.

I am now in that category.

It has to be a rational choice.

Infection rates locally are very low, I take all the precautions

I value my trips out,.

I am not an idiot and do not see why I should self isolate unless and until local infection rates are much higher.

Trouble is Swims, you could slip in the bath and die, but it doesn't prevent you from taking a bath...Life has always been risky, with or without Covid...

Hi

Quite right OGF.

Everything we do has a risk and we accept it,

I simply do not like being dictated to by idiots.

I will not be going out Clubbing or to places which do not follow the rules.

I am happy going to Morrisons and to my favourite eating place where they are very careful about everything,

Exactly that Swimmy, we dont need to be locked away in isolation
as was suggested on TV this morning, and nor is it possible?
It was suggested that the numbers of so called vulnerable people
are far to many to be protected? But surely the majority of us in
this group are quite able to protect ourselves in our own homes and
dont require any help or special measures to survive, only the really
debilitated people will need special measures, and l suppose we
must know how many of these there actually are from NHS records?
Then we will know whether we can cope with the numbers or not?
I have seen no mention of bringing the nightingale hospitals into
action anywhere, WHY??
If the reason is lack of staff then it begs the question of why they
were assembled in the first place??
Maybe to use as morgues??
As regards staffing them, could not the military medics be drafted in
as a temporary measure??
I think that these nightingales could then be used to treat all the
serious cases of covid , thus leaving NHS hospitals free for normal
hospital work, at the same time avoiding any cross contamination
between the two systems??
I think something like this has a deal of merit instead of the party
political conflict that has started to appear now with the northern
Labour mayors combining to thwart anything that government
proposes??

I am happy to stay in isolation, the infection rates are quite high high here for a small town and rising rapidly and I am already struggling with health issue.

I will meet the family outdoor when I can other than that I won't be going far or mixing.

I also think most of us are capable of being careful where we go and what we do but the law is the law and if we all start doing our own thing we end up no better than those that are flouting the rules and spreading the virus. Unfortunately the government is not able to put us into separate categories, those with common sense and those without it, so all they can do is treat us all the same. Life is like that in general.

What are they scared of,the infection rate is up but is it amongst the younger generation with uni's seemingly being locked down, death's are nowhere near the rate earlier in the year,a stitch in time I suppose but if the first lock down didn't work why should another, then another?

The first lockdown did work. It brought the numbers down. Now that the country is opening up again the numbers are rising. The only answer seems to be to get a vaccine.

Yes, the infections are definitely up,BUT, deaths are not to any
extent?
WHY?
BECAUSE us old guys are taking precautions and care homes are
much more aware of what to do now !
Another lockdown is not necessary !!
