Re: Chinese Coronavirus

That was a sad thing to hear this morning. But it seems they have a poor infection protocol on the ship. Staff who may be infected are serving meals and it's all the same air con. The sooner people are air lifted the better.

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

I heard a young woman being interviewed this morning and she said her husband rang 111 because of a sore throat and not feeling too good and they were told to go to A & E for tests.

She said the people testing had no protective clothing other than a face mask and gloves, and a thin plastic apron.

That's not how we see it on telly with them covered from head to toe, is it.

That's terrible ......

David and Sally Abel were very cheery at the beginning of their isolation but their experience has drained them and left them worried about their future .....

David said he doubted his positive diagnosis. “Frankly I think this is a setup! We are NOT being taken to a hospital but a hostel. That’s where partners are sent waiting out their quarantine,” he wrote. “No phone, no wifi and no medical facilities. I really am smelling a very big rat here! Waiting for the transfer now.”

88 new cases on the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan were confirmed as a result of 681 people being tested (13% infection rate). Of these, 65 people (74%) have no symptoms. So far, a total of 542 infected people were found among 2,404 passengers and crew members tested (23% infection rate) out of 3,711 total people on the ship.

David Abel claims on his Facebook page that he and his wife will be put into quarantine in a Japanese hostel now they’ve been told they’ve tested positive .

I actually don’t believe anyone would be told to or go to A&E following the UBER incident ,do you?Unless one of those metal containers was in place in the car park .
Do you believe testing staff are not taking adequate protection?

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

A Sunshine Coast man, who has been in quarantine on the Diamond Princess cruise ship, has tested positive for coronavirus and will be separated from his wife.

Paul and Coralie Williamson have been in isolation on board the stricken ship, docked off Yokohama in Japan, since February 4.

Mr Williamson said he would be transferred to hospital and his wife would "remain on board at this stage".

It is unfortunate timing for the couple because they were due to be evacuated to Australia, god's own country, today.

Monash University Professor of infectious diseases, Allen Cheng, said the virus was most likely spreading through poor hand hygiene and contaminated food trays.

Of 2,666 guests and 1,045 crew on the ship, about 542 people have caught the virus.

The Australians being evacuated will fly to Darwin, where they will be quarantined for another fortnight.

The Government has said passengers will be tested for coronavirus five times throughout the journey; once on the ship, twice during the flight, once at the RAAF base after they land, and then when they arrive in Darwin.

Re: Chinese Coronavirus

The unfortunate Mr Williamson is not the only infected Australian:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-02-...amson/11930006[/QUOTE]

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said of the about 220 Australians onboard, 36 have tested positive. Another 15 have decided not to return on the chartered flight.
