Re: Another name this plant/weed thread.

Dongle m'duck, your plant looks very much like one I have. I have 2 infact, because I liked it so much I split it last year.

If it is the same as mine, it is like a giant Daisy, about 3ft tall.
Perennial, and lovely flowers for cutting. Flowers on and on well into autumn.

You can get them in white with yellow centres, or the lovely 'shaggy' ones which mine are. They also come in a very pretty pale lemon.

It is called "Leucanthemum."
There is a variety called "Superbum" . . . I kid you not , and that's what variety I have.

I can't get a good close up of the leaves, you'll have to google and see if you can see better. Lots of Nurseries sell them.
Here is a write up about them.

Mups! .... I knew I recognised the leaves - I've got a Leucanthem!

I just went out to check and mine's called Real Charmer

(Good old Mupsy )

Edited. I've got another one too but can't find the label with it's name. It's a taller than the Real Charmer and the one I prefer.
It's the same as Leucanthemum × superbum 'Snowcap'
shasta daisy in Mups' link.

Do you agree with me Pesta? They really do look the same don't they, and mine is about the same stage of growth as dongle's is at the mo, too.

I love my 'shaggy' petalled one even more than the 'normal' ones. What a funny name ey . . Superbum - trust dongle.

Thanks Mups. Trust me to have a superbum. I will have a look at that.
I have another contender too, a Rudbeckia. Either way, it seems it is a shrub rather than a weed (just spent an hour looking at all the weed leaves).

I had no idea what your mystery plant was LD but how nice it is to have some knowledgeable members here who come up with the answers.

I wish I had a superbum

Pronounce it with the stress on the -per.
So, suPERBum, not SUPERbum.

SuPERbus is the Latin for superb or proud, and suPERbum is the neuter form. (Latin has three genders: masculine, feminine and neuter, and all nouns are one of the three, and so all adjectives follow suit).

So, think suPERB, and then say suPERBum.

Or you can stick with super-bum!
