Yes Ray, greece, portugal, what was Yugoslavia etc were all
allowed to join allthough their economies did not comply
with eu criteria for membership!
I suppose eu got desperate for cheap labour?
Same reason for the migration crisis as well?

Italy didn't "join" it was one of the founding members of the EGKS, the predecessor of the EEC. Been there from the very beginning.

Italy has two parties in government. To compare them with the UK: the brexit party and the conservatives.
Italy's brexit party leader salvini (your farage) has seen he is much more popular than the italian boris johnson. He wants an election to be the only leader of italy.

Can you tell me why the other countries l did mention were
permitted to join?
