How you had the gall to type that, astounds me.
I was referring to the UK elite, but you are quite right, the EU elite stands to make a bundle too from brexit.

You sure did talk a lot about it, strike about it, but it was during EU membership workers became protected by law, like the National Minumum Wage Act 1998, to name just one.
In the netherlands the minumum wage was laid down in law in 1968, 30 years earlier. Why? Because in britain workers were, and post brexit will be again, subject to the whim of employers. Go boris?

There is no EU minimum wage

I think it was the UK that first came up with the living wage... courtesy of Boris

Of course donks, living wage was a issueas far back as 1913 (see enclosed poster). Minimum wage is introduced in the EU. Living costs differ per country, so the minimum differs per country. Why else would so many english go and live in spain if it wasn't for cheap living?

As a brexiteer he is pretty much alone in that view among the major retailers

But he is CEO of Next which has problems with falling profits as it is struggling to compete with the likes of Zara and H&M both of which think Brexit will make them more expensive and therefore less competitive.

Yes, I read that and very encouraging it is too.

I must say, though, that I was surprised because for a couple of years or so now the Daily Mail has done a volte face and has become very much more pro-EU.

Presumably, the editor in chief is like some big businessmen and sees continued EU membership as a means of ensuring his coffers remain full at the expense of the rest of us!

If you believe that, why are you so desperate to keep the UK in the EU, when you are assured of getting an adequate wage?
Could it be because your wife has not yet gained a European citizenship and you feel she would have more chance in Britain?

The opportunity to earn or collectively bargain for decent wages was lost the minute the EU allowed Free Movement of Eastern/Southern European dole queues.

The minimum wage is a sticking plaster over an amputation.......Don't YOU know ???
