Sweating the Small Stuff

How do you avoid sweating the small stuff? As I get older I become more and more like the grumpy old lady I vowed I'd never be such as:-

"tut tut ..... just look at the way he's parked"
"does she have to slam that door"
"why doesn't he/she [insert the complaint]"
"just look at [insert the complaint]"

None of examples are any of my business and yet I still pass judgement sounding just like my mother and my grandmother!

Do others, when looking at themselves with complete honesty suffer with the same affliction?

I think its just a case that we didn't 'notice' these things when we were younger. Although if I were young today - I would notice, theres too much inconsiderate behaviour around ...... I think we're just plain fed up with it ....

Yes, I do think I'm quite judgemental of people's behaviour., but is it a fault or is it what keeps (most) of society in line.

Re: Sweating the Small Stuff

I've come to the conclusion people are less considerate these days, when I see people parked on the pavement it's particularly annoying, I remember well when I learned to drive it was one of the biggest no nos my instructor was very insistent anyone doing it was a first class moron (his words) and that his pupils were never to do it. And I have to admit I never saw many people do it because the police patrolling the beat would move people on when they saw them. No now one seems to care except me ! So if people were still considerate I wouldn't get bent out of shape every time I see someone parked on the pavement blocking wheelchair access and pushchair access !

I find myself getting more like my parents in comments I make - such as Dad's favourite when I was watching 'Top of the Pops' - 'You call that music?'

Then I realise what I've said.........

Yes but music from the 90's on 'was' pretty much garbage! Back in the 70's backwards, yeah some 80's too, songs had melodies. You could sing with them.
People really were talented. Now it's so much production, any idiot could go into a recording studio with money!

I sometimes start to complain about little things then I realise what's the point?, do I want to be like my old grandfather? grumpy old devil that he was, not on your nelly I don't, so that usually shuts me up. It seems to be working. the two grandkids said to me the other day, "It's nice to have a grandad who never moans and is always smiling" They don't know the half of it God bless them, I often think that If I fell into a heap of manure I'd come out smelling of roses.

God bless ya Jem, you must be a Saint and long may you stay that way.

Me? I could easily turn into Mrs. Meldrew.
