Re: Find a Companion?

Ted, join a local rock choir.

You don't have to have a good voice, or be able to read music. You won't be asked to sing on your own.
It's great fun, you meet loads of people of both sexes and all ages, and there's a social aspect to it as well...... pub after sessions, doing performances, etc.

Greatmorale booster, gets the endorphins flowing, brilliant for health, too!

Re: Find a Companion?

My sister has been on her own for a number of years...she goes on group holidays for singles and she loves them....she is very select on the type of group for instance she loves walking and visits to museums ..cultural type stuff (unlike me)...so she picks groups that have similar interests...she loves them....works for her.

I do that too. Like your sister, I like the cultural holidays, particularly music-themed ones. You're in a group with people with similar interests, you eat together, are in the same hotel, but there's opportunity to be on your own if you wish.

Themes range from art/architecture/history/music to photography, rambling, singing, cookery, painting, etc. in a variety of countries.

Re: Find a Companion?

My late cousin when in her 60's met someone by joining an online dating agency.
They lived about 50 miles apart and originally met up to go to the theatre, opera concerts etc, then holidays and he would sometimes stay over.

They were together on holiday when my cousin died, he popped out to get a bottle of wine and found her 'asleep' in the chair.

When my husband died I used to think it would be nice to have someone to go out with occasionally but my son was only young at the time and by the time he was old enough to leave I had got used to being alone and prefered it .

Wow!

Lots of very good advice.

I'll be having a good look at all of them.

Thank you all for your very caring responses.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

Re: Find a Companion?

I used to look for a companion but gave up a long while ago sadly .

I would have loved to have travelled with someone in a fab camper van , even Europe, but wont do it alone , so that's a dream gone too .

I was chatting to an older gent the other day and he met a lady after his wife died , he travelled the world with her paying for everything hotels flights etc then she left him . He was heartbroken again .

Ah well , that's life I guess

Now where is that book I was reading
