Re: Priti Patel

No guarantee that it will go to an employment tribunal now that Patel has been exonerated.

Re: Priti Patel

Hi

Never met the lady.

Some of my ex colleagues have and consider her to be a babe in arms compared to Theresa May.

Yes, apparently she does kick off from time to time.

She is entitled to, she is the Boss.

She was elected, us Civil Servants aren't.

An important difference, we are there to do the job, even if we disagree with it.

We are paid employees, we are not the Bosses.

That is Democracy, they are voted in, we are not

We have a choice.

We can leave.

I am not a yes person.

May sacked me and others.

That is her right.

I would not even have worked for Corbyn and Abbott.

I would have been out of the door on day one.

Re: Priti Patel

It seems that newspaper reports of the "investigation" are a "leak":

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-a9489376.html

The Whitehall process which is believed to have cleared Priti Patel over allegations she bullied her staff has been condemned as secretive and biased, as pressure grows to release the report.

A leak of the internal investigation – overseen by the cabinet secretary, on Boris Johnson’s instructions – says it has found has found no evidence the home secretary mistreated civil servants.

However, the report is not expected to be published immediately and it is not apparent whether Ms Patel has been formally cleared, or whether the Whitehall probe has concluded there is enough evidence to require her to resign.

Dave Penman, the head of the FDA union of senior civil servants, attacked the way Ms Patel was investigated internally and the leak of the conclusions to a friendly newspaper.

“It tells you everything that is wrong with investigations under the ministerial code that a process which is not written down, which contains no rights for those who might complain, that is determined in secret, alone by a prime minister who has already pledged his allegiance to the minister in advance, and which allows no right to transparency or challenge for anyone who complained, would then be leaked on the evening before the home secretary is due to appear before the home affairs select committee,” he told The Guardian.

Re: Priti Patel

Patel bullying inquiry must be published 'immediately' - Labour

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-53375707

A Cabinet Office investigation into several allegations about Ms Patel's behaviour was launched in March.

Shadow home secretary Nick Thomas-Symonds wrote to Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove on Saturday, saying that the delay in publishing the findings was "unacceptable".

The letter follows a report in The Times of a "stand-off" between senior officials and political aides over the publication of the report.

Senior Cabinet Office official Helen McNamara and senior civil servant Alexander Allan have been compiling the report, which is understood to have been completed..

The paper said Ms MacNamara is refusing to exonerate Ms Patel from some of the allegations of bullying, despite attempts by the PM's aides supposedly wanting the inquiry to find there is no conclusive evidence of bullying.

Mr Thomas-Symonds said in the letter: "It has been over four months since the government promised a report into whether the home secretary broke the Ministerial Code.

"There are now allegations of deeply inappropriate political interference in the publication of the report, both in terms of content and timing."

Re: Priti Patel

What has happened to the report into Priti Patel?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-53422019

"It was finished, but it has become unfinished"

As Parliament looks to the summer break, there is an increasing sense of tension over what has happened to the report into the home secretary, one of the most senior politicians in the country, the most senior woman in government, who Boris Johnson would be loathe to lose.

It is not very easy to get to the bottom of exactly what is going on. It is clear however, that there is a problem. What is up then?

Officials in fact had been preparing to publish the outcome, more than a month ago. But then "there was a pause", and after another bit of work, some issues were uncovered, but that there was no slam dunk finding that would make it impossible for her to stay on in her job.

The report itself has since been "parked", not because it contains the kind of explosive material that would require the home secretary's automatic exit but because no one agrees what to do next, hence the report is now 'unfinished'.

Perhaps there should be some "learning" for the home secretary, or perhaps even an apology for past mistakes, but there is not much enthusiasm on Downing Street's side for that. in the end, believe it nor, the government is under no obligation to publish the full findings - it is for the Prime Minister himself to decide what to do.
The last few weeks have seen Ms Patel presenting a positive public profile (even wearing a mask) so it seems unlikely that BJ will do anything .....

Re: Priti Patel

Civil servant in charge of bullying inquiry into Priti Patel to leave post.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics...-to-leave-post

Helen MacNamara will become a permanent secretary in an as-yet unidentified Whitehall department

The senior civil servant in charge of the bullying inquiry into the home secretary, Priti Patel, is to leave her post next month in another major Whitehall shake-up.

Helen MacNamara’s new role as a permanent secretary in an as-yet unidentified Whitehall department will heighten speculation that No 10 is clearing the way for Patel to be cleared of multiple bullying allegations.

The director general of propriety and ethics has previously been identified as the person blocking No 10 from clearing Patel in a report that has been sitting on the prime minister’s desk for several weeks.

The job of ethics chief is crucial and sits at the heart of the No 10 operation. The appointed candidate oversees the provision of advice to all government departments on standards and ethics issues and manages public appointments.

An informed source said: “This move is a signal that No 10 will move on anyone who might challenge them on the legality or ethics of what Boris and Cummings want to do. Control that office and you no longer have to stick to the rules when it comes to outside appointments.”
Cummings doesn't care for legality or ethics, as we know …..

The "whitewash" will applied …..

It's been "unfinished" by the government:

The Independent understands that the format of the document, to be published later this year, has not yet been decided.
