You either know more about this or you don't. Because according to media sources this is about focus groups to chat about government communication strategy and not about data integrity. So if you know more than what is in the public domain please share.

That does not make sneaking in fluffy pet projects ok. They should go through the official procurement route. The corner cutting is for specific crisis resolution only. I'm sure whoever is reporting this as an issue is aware of the procedure and rules.

To paraphrase "Rules are made for the benefit of man, man is not made for the benefit of rules"

Right now some rules are NOT for the befit of man in these extraordinary times.

In any case why do you imagine that this it's a "fluffy pet project"?

Not at all - in the middle of a pandemic the last thing we need is group think, dithering and delay when the options are to either back the company that has the equipment we need straight away or let people die because you don't like the tories.

Most politicians have links to industry, if we took your view the whole world would be left to burn to the ground while your debating what you think is right and what you think isn't.

Just remember, the government had the country locked down and furloughed with grants for companies, bounce back loans, 5 nightingale hospitals built and the PPE issue resolved by the beginning of May. Labours achievement was that they had (after 4 months) elected a new leader and formed a new cabinet.

That's nonsense when applied to government finances. The government has a duty of stewardship transparency accountability and integrity when spending taxpayer funding. That's why procurement rules are in place.

People agreeing to fluffy pet projects here would be up in arms on other threads (say foreign aid) were St Dom not been thrown in the mix. Those who have argued that nobody can walk on water in religious threads would make an exception in his case. I'm eagerly awaiting news of his beatification!

Focus groups are interviews of targeted individuals for market research purposes - totally fluffy wuffy!

Less of the live-saving drama please. I've already said life saving equipment, clinical, PPE etc is different from virtual tea and cakes with the knitting circle.

However, there is absolutely no excuse in losing financial control pandemic or not. It's becoming clear that there has been plenty of "play" in the furlough arrangements and a lack of adequate ability to oversee that all organisations were playing fair. We certainly did not need fluffy wuffy focus group consultancy spend at this time and as it's a year long contract hardly life saving stuff!

Not sure why you are pointing out what labour achieved. I'm not a labour devotee so wasted on me.
