Your'e not kidding. A PC was slashed with a machete while trying to arrest a driver who had no vehicle insurance. The driver had to be restrained with a taser.

Now, an attorney has stepped forward demanding that the police officer be charged with assault - is it because the driver is black by any chance?

Latest update in the Travellers Saga. Fire Brigade were called yesterday at 9.30pm. They had lit three fires in the woods on the edge of the common which got out of control. Pity it didn't reach their caravans.

The Fire Brigade should have been 'selective' as to which part of the fire to deal with first (or at all).

Personally, I'd say the woods must be their priority on the grounds that trees and vegetation are good for the planet.

Perhaps a trail of petrol subreptitiously applied under cover of darkness from the caravans to the woods might be in order.

Sounds like a plan to me Judd. The only problem is the whole area is tinder dry and my house is a couple of hundred metres away.

Good news! If only for a short while. They will be gone by midday tomorrow the 8th. Bad news! Apparently there are six more traveller camps in different, but all local, areas. I can see this problem going on throughout the rest of the summer.

Can't someone lay some dirty great boulders around the edge of this green area to prevent the travellers from getting on it in the first place?

It's a vast area not a village green. Nice idea but not practical unfortunately.
