No, they understood that agreeing to an election at that point may have allowed Boris to crash out with no deal. Instead, as they hold a majority they pulled Johnson’s strings and are prepared to bide their time to ensure he complies with the law

At the moment given that BJ ands the Conservatives are in limbo it’s whatever the Commons majority get passed into law so it could the today’s or tomorrow’s laws or both

What will be interesting is whether BJ will abide by them or will he declare a state of national emergency or will the Queen sack him?

Unless we move away from a representational democracy or have a 2nd referendum the impasse is likely to continue

Remain are a busted flush now. They've lost their undemocratic agenda and grieve, letwin and benn are all going to be investigated for their involvement with foreign powers to influence UK laws and uk democracy.

If remain were so sure they could win this they would have a vote of no confidence. So far the cowards are not only running away from that idea but also from a general election.

I the end, the truth and democracy always finds a way and that's what we are starting to see now.

He can do all the calling he likes, but he won't act, will he? Someone pass him a fountain pen...

And no-one ran away, they're still in parliament trying to get him to answer questions, such as where exactly is the magic money tree, and is it deciduous?

Your ignoring history

What else does Boris Johnson need to do to call a general election ? He has asked for one twice and nobody in any opposition party will dare put forward a vote of no confidence in him. If they did they would lose a general election by a country mile and they are too much a bunch of undemocratic cowards to try.

This week, the anti semitic coward, Corbyn and the Lib Dems (the party for people with broken principles) were going to put forward a vote of no confidence in Boris Johnson, colluding with the Ginger Dwarf "who lives in the north", wee Nippy but where is it ?

Oh yes..... cluck cluck cluck cluck cluck.

Going for a GE at this juncture may facilitate a no deal Brexit which is why they are biding their time

To avoid a no deal Brexit they need to go and win it then

Would't that guarantee a no-deal Brexit ? You could get it all done in 3 weeks, there is enough time - just call a vote of no confidence, let Boris vote against himself and have an election.

Why won't the "national party of unity" do this ? Is it because you can't win it and your too scared to call for a general election ?

3 weeks is all it takes - it's only the 1st October - you could revoke A50 on the 22nd and still have 9 days to spare !

Come on let's hear it

It seems they are happy to wait a few weeks to give Boris time to do a deal and introduce any further law that may be required to ensure no deal down not happen

They might also not want to disrupt the conference their Conservative colleagues have paid for. How considerate of them.

Happy to wait a few weeks now is it ?

Absolute horse shit - the reason they don't want a GE is because the conservatives would win by a country mile and they are all too frit to ask for one

A no deal is now more likely than ever thanks to the Benn Bill.

Well done Hilary Benn - I guess your reasons will be given and the countries you colluded with will be laid out in the open for all the people to see, now that the government has launched its investigation into Benn, Letwin and Grieve.

Then we will all find out what these little scheming snakes have been up to ...

Drain the swamp !
Lock 'em up !
