work on the house

At long last we have a date when the builders make a start on replacing the barge boards and gutters on our house roof.
We have decided to have UPVC ones (with vents) the birds can't destroy as they have in a couple of places
Scaffolders arranged to arrive on the 25 of this month.
Sue has been noticing several houses roundabout are also or have done the same, must be due to the age of them built in the mid 1980's.

Are your roof tiles flat or are they profiled as those of the Double Roman design? The DR pattern tile are renowned for allowing birds to nest within the sarking felt.

LD
This is the damage done

The previous owner was Mr Bodget the builder and this is typical of the crap work he did on the house before. He should have got proper professional in but had to do things on the cheap .
The amount of "putting right" his cockups did no wonder his building firm went bust
So instead of doing a small repair we decided to go all the way and have the whole of the barge boards and gutters replaced

Evacuate the building immediately, RS, and assemble the occupants at a safe distance. That roof looks like it could come down any minute.

Might be worth considering having dry verge and ridge fitted too whilst the scaffolding is up RS, gets rid of all that ugly cement!

That's fortunate; it means RS won't have to re-arrange his date in order to get in before you. Of course, he is now going to have to replace three windows on top of the already planned work, which he probably won't be happy about.

Calling his cement ugly is going to get you on the ignore list, Barry.

Good idea but the firm we are using and used before say they will re cement any where necessary as part of the contract. It is costing enough as it is
