Re: International Waters?

Hi

The Iranians are Shia, they were instrumental in defeating ISIS.

They have been no threat to the UK for decades.

We need to keep out of this and concentrate on our problems here in the UK.

Perhaps some of the others on that original (#15) post are also some unsubstantiated claims.

How about France?
Ah, I see. Trying to turn things into unsubstantiated claims. That's fine but you can read Wikipedia about the same , and make up your own mind.

I was only asking for some information which was not apparent in your initial post (#15).

Yes, I am perfectly convinced that America has tried to influence third-world countries, but western democracies would be more surprising.

Still nothing to substantiate American interference in French politics!

Re: International Waters?

If there's ever and question over the American government influencing nations either by military oppression as per the absolute classic Vietnam war (which they lost) or by financial domination of their economies such as is taking place in countries such as Indonesia which is systematically being ripped off by big business then those two are the tip of the iceberg.

True. They're alive and well and hiding away in this country.

I've found reference to it. So I'm sure you can JBR .

" Greatly nettled by these French moves in the past year, Washington has tried, by both tough and soft means, to make Paris change its line; but all these attempts failed. Consequently, the Johnson Administration resorted to interference in France’s internal affairs. A month before the recent French presidential elections, the U.S. State Department launched a propaganda campaign with the obvious intention of disparaging de Gaulle. During the elections, the United States gave energetic support to the pro-U.S. presidential candidate. Nevertheless, to Washington’s regret, de Gaulle was re-elected despite U.S. meddling."

Indeed it hasn't and there are tens of thousands of the buggers. Apart from Iraq and Syria, (up to 20,000 in the region) they are all over the world.

They just move on.. .. somehow.

I still wonder what happened to the 4000 + that were taken in convoy out of Raqqa including their families and weaponry. Heading for the dessert and never mentioned again.

US backed SDF took them !! I think I've posted this video before.

Thank you.

Assuming the report is valid, it seems that the Americans did attempt to influence French politics.

Actually, I'd have agreed with them anyway because I really do not like deGaulle. This country offered him sanctuary when the Germans invaded France and in return, after he returned to his now-free country, he tried his best to do the dirty on us.
