Re: Where were you..?

I well remember the moon landing. I was at Sellafield observing fuel rod reprocessing first hand as part of my university course. Everybody was gobsmacked! I

However in no time at all a number of VERY rude jokes were circulating, a common theme involved being shot into space.

Re: Where were you..?

I remember l was sitting on the floor in my gradfathers
house in south London when the announcement was made
over the radio that a state of war existed between England
and and Germany, all my uncles were gathered around and
I could sense the feeling that something serious had just
happened!

Regards Donkeyman!

Re: Where were you..?

I remember us both watching TV when the news came on about Princess Diana's tragic death and I quickly phoned my MIL and told her.

Re: Where were you..?

I was playing a guitar with a friend up in my bedroom when my Mother shouted up the stairs that Kennedy had been shot.

I was working as a TV engineer for Rumbelows at the time of the Moon landing. I was in the workshop for the actual 'one small step..' part.

At home when Diana was killed.

Diana who?

I remember when they asked Keith Richards at the time how sad he was about her death. He replied "I didn't even know the chick!".
Pure class.

Re: Where were you..?

I was married and living on our farm at the time Diana's death was announced.

It was 1997 and I remember I'd just finished feeding and was coming out of my bird aviary, when my husband came outside and told me what he had heard on the news.

*

And although not a 'historical event,' but it was the same year, not long after Diana's death, that I had a phone call to tell me my Dad had just died too.

Re: Where were you..?

I remember hearing about John Lennon's death on the car radio ... on my way to my brother's place ... then matter-of-factly telling his girlfriend ... who, 20 years later told the story at a dinner party about how matter-of-fact I was. 20 years on and I'm still thinking about it, not John Lennon's death but the sequence of events that day.
