Re: Does the internet facilitate unpleasant behaviour?

Yes it does, and because they are anonymous there are much more of them now, in the old days it was impossible to be an anonymous bully, indeed even if you wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper you had to supply your name and address which could be checked before publication.
The internet is a paradise for the more cowardly type of bully, doesn't have to give any personal details just hides behind the screen and blasts away at the selected victim.
In my short internet experience I noticed they are experts on forum rules and always quote them like "I am a member of this forum and am entitled to say what I want to say, that's my right...blah blah blah" They balance on the edge of the rules all the time.
I’ve found the best thing to do with them is completely ignore them.

How would he have known where to find you unless you've given personal information out? You have to be really careful what you share on the internet, it's fine to show pics of your pets but nothing that can identify you otherwise you're taking risks with your personal safety and that of your family too

I think everyone on the Internet should be made to watch Songs Of Praise and Loose Women before posting anything.

It can be really easy, someone recognised my dogs on one forum, and was most unpleasant kept turning up here, in the end my husband had to have words ! Another forum one of the mods went a bit mad and started sending child porn to selected female members, they had our addresses as we had to give them when we joined for a welcome pack to be sent out. When he threatened to come and see me because I complained the police had to arrest him quicker than they wanted to. That was a big national TV stations forum too somewhere you sort of expect better behaviour.

I think we only have to look at a story like this and see how the internet allows people to be nasty http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...r-s-death.html would anyone at all actually walk up to this poor woman on the street and talk to her like they have on line ?
