Re: you never really know someone

Do we ever know people? My Uncle was a peeping tom,a girl friend`s father was perhaps a little too interested in children?-well he did buy the house next to my primary school.

He tried to `touch me up` and girls came to school crying about another man

But who believed children back then?

Re: you never really know someone

What a sad sad thread, 2 very tragic stories.
I can only reiterate what everyone else has said adding in my own personal opinion I would never ever forgive or have anything to do with child molesters and would distance myself from those who did continue to have contact with anyone who has carried out these vile attacks on innocent children.

OG there will be victims of child sex abuse the world over, who didn't have the courage to tell anyone. The perpetrator often would have warned them that if they did then such and such would happen. These victims, not all, but some of them will be living with low self esteem and feel guilt and shame when it wasn't even their fault.

My friend had a Sunday School Teacher touch them inappropriately. A woman teacher. It's not only confined to men.

Re: you never really know someone

If you still feel the same about your lifelong friend then I see no reason why you two can't keep meeting and socialising without her partner being there. It depends if her love for him affects your feelings about her really.

Re: you never really know someone

If I was in your friend's situation I certainly could not continue in a relationship with someone like her partner .... and, whilst I realise she is a long term friend of yours, I would have to walk away from that friendship as I would feel very uncomfortable with the decision she has made.

Re: you never really know someone

I would be starting to put a bit of distance between me and said friend about now, the situation would be untenable for me ...

Susan, your friend may eventually come to her senses. At the moment she is maybe in denial. I've never yet met anyone who has defended a sex offender. Perhaps she will see sense and you can both still be friends. It's a hellish situation for all.

men are great for amusement but you wouldn't want to keep one at home, so hard to house train.
