In retrospect I should have used "gentile" in place of goy.

Goy derives from Goyim which some people believe means cattle though in fact it is Hebrew for Nations. Colloquially it means "The Rest / Others" to differentiate from us Yids!
Does Goy have dubious connotations, then? Or does it just depend on the context and tone of voice?

Let's just say that because it lumps everyone together it's sort of dismissive of their individuality. Because of that I really shouldn't have used it but at times I write what I think rather than sanitising it!

Re: This house believes

Hi

Casting pens.

I should have said was.

The Cincinatti Pen is now used for cattle.

This itself has problems, cutting an animals neck from underneath causes all forms of issues.

It's neck has to be unnaturally stretched out to allow access for silting it' s throat whilst it is fully conscious.

Only the fore quarter of such religiously slaughtered animals is Kosher, the bulk of the animal is not kosher and goes onto the open market without having to be labelled

The Jewish Pressure Groups are now wanting a return to Rotary Pens for cattle.

http://www.shechitauk.org/wp-content...f-the-Pens.pdf

Either way, you are eating meat which has had it's throat cut when it is fully awake and conscious of what is happening without being labelled as such.

The Jews object strongly to such meat being labelled as such to give us a choice as to whether to buy it or not.

This is simply for economic reasons, they know that if it was labelled, many would not buy it and it would increase the cost of Kosher Meat.

Kosher Slaughter is banned in some Countries.

Muslim Slaughter, Halal, permits the animal to be rendered unconcious before having it's throat cut.

Jewish Slaughter, Kosher insists that the animal be concious and fully aware of what is happening.

[QUOTE=Donkeyman;1720937]At my big fat greek wedding in my wifes village in Greece
they slaughtered a sheep ( they called it a lamb ) they had
been fattening up specially for the wedding feast!
And l remember how calm this animal was before and
during the process!! The guy doing the slaughter took time
to stroke and talk to the beast untill he got it to lay down!
Then he held its nose and knelt on its forelegs, then felt
its throat to locate the artery, and using a sharp short blade,
he cut the artery, the animal never once showed any
awareness of what was happening, and seemed to just
slowly go to sleep! The blood which spurted out was
allowed to soak into the dust!
I saw nothing wrong with this at all?
I have never been in a slaughterhouse and so cant compare
what goes on there!

Regards Donkeyman![/QUOT

Sheep die silently poor things they have no choice sounds great kneeling on its forelegs holding its nose not.!Slaughter houses in third world countries are worse
People employed in abbatoirs are usually cruel

Re: This house believes

The only effective answer is stopeatingmeat
But all meat that is ritually slaughtered should be labeled as such.

lf you read my post properly Muddy you would have seen
that the animals throat was not cut! only the artery was
nicked open, it never knew what was happening!
If you watch a predator kill a prey animal, you may have
noticed that after being caught the prey soon submit and
seemingly allow themselves to be killed!
This scenario has been going on for millions of years and
is perfectly normal, in fact it is essential for the natural
world to function!
What took place at my wedding was imo totally humane and
free of stress for both the animal and the slaughterer, who
treated the animal with respect at all times!

Best Regards Donkeyman!

I remember not that long ago, when it was all on the news about some abbatoir workers secretly filmed being brutal to animals before they eventually died.
There were also bad breaches in hygiene standards too.

Can't remember which abbatoir is was now?

How people do that killing job, day in day out, is beyond my comprehension.
I could certainly never be married to an abbatoir worker.

Re: This house believes

Thus far the question of sport (?) fishing has scarcely been touched and even when the matter of pre-stunning was brought up the horrific difference between killing for the Kosher market and Halal brutality avoided what takes place killing for Muslims and was ignored.

Well I'm not going to open that up. It's something that a lot of people wouldn't believe let alone want to know.

One might not unreasonably wonder why halal killing was not opened up - but hey ho, plus ça change eh! Just a shame that such a distorted image of how killing for the kosher market takes place and how it anything it is far less distressing for the beasts when done properly.
