B&Bs

Does anyone know of a good, reasonably priced B&B near Matlock in Derbyshire? We want one which is in the countryside and has good access and easy parking.

Re: B&Bs

Mum and I stayed at one in Matlock Bath, literally within driving distance of the Heights of Abraham (but didn't have time to go up). Run by two 'theatrical' type luvvies, if I remember correctly!! But not the name.

(Just been on Google Earth and corrected myself. I'd originally put within 'walking distance' but can see now that the HoA are further up the road so we must have driven there. I remember that we'd walked by the river, and I remember the illuminations of Jubilee Garden.)

I can see the place where I believe we stayed. There are two I think, side by side, with big car parks.

Wouldn't mind another trip there, actually. Looks lovely.

Glendon Guest House
Knowleston Place, Matlock DE4 3BU, England

This looks great with many good reviews Alan.
Its in Matlock and has free parking.
Don't know the price so you would have to click onto their site for those.
Others look good but are out of Matlock so depends on how
far you want to travel to get into Matlock.
Hope you enjoy yourselves.

Re: B&Bs

I live about 8 miles from Matlock - there are lots of B/B's but sorry Alan don't know the good ones from the bad.
If it were me I'd stay at a travel lodge - you know what you're getting with one of them. Of course it would mean you taking the car into Matlock and I know that's not what you want.

I hope you find somewhere nice.

Re: B&Bs

Thanks Carol but we've got it sorted. We're staying at Breach farm which is just outside Carsington village. It's got good reports on trip advisor.

Re: B&Bs

I would have suggested Bakewell, Darley Dale, Beeley or Rowsley as being within easy reach of Matlock. Carsington is quite a way out.
