Holiday camps

One of my first holidays away from the parents watchful eye was at a holiday camp. What an awakener to the joys of life that was.

Though never repeated, what fond memories I still have of those 2 weeks.

Some vintage photos below to jog your memories

Ah ... Butlins .. that brings back memories.

Chasing after the rather dishy red coats . Well .. I was only 8 and had to practice on someone in a safe environment.

Re: Holiday camps

I went to Butlins, Minehead, with my friend and her parents. I must have been about 14. We met two Welsh brothers called Julian and Jason. I wonder where they are now...

...and if they have beards...

Re: Holiday camps

My first parent free holiday was when I was 16/17 and I went to Butlin's in Pwllheli with a couple of school friends. We had a super time, lots of laughs and fun. Having our own chalet was great but didn't enjoy the early morning wake up - at a certain time the loudspeakers would suddenly burst into life with the famous 'wakey-wakey' call and music would be played to let everyone know that the first sitting for breakfast was coming up.
