New to this so worrying advance...

I have friends coming over Saturday for a pre Christmas meal, what will blow their socks off? Keeping with the Xmas theme but something a little different. Thanks for your help

Re: Xmas is coming - ideas

I always think a pre Christmas meal needs to stay away from traditional Christmas day fare, but I'm not a great one for doing dinner parties so I might be wrong. I'm a vegetarian too so I tend to go for meals based around a nice big meaty mushroom, plenty of garlic and butter. You can have any veg although I'm partial to grated sprouts with almonds and onions, roasted carrots and roast potatoes.

Thank you, never considered a veggie option.

I'm a veggie also Julie. The meal you have just described sounds delicious. If my skateboard has had a new Sat Nav fitted and is ready for Xmas Day, can I pop round for dinner?

Hi Harry and welcome.

If you want to blow their socks off, I would make an Indian curry. There are some good Indian recipes around and you could do a veggie alternative just in case. The only down side to cooking Indian for the first time is buying the ingredients. They can work out expensive.

I'd just get a Chinese, and probably will.
