Curtains

Ok I need to get a pair of curtains. Now I dont 'do' numbers/calculations or sums lol so please can any help offered be with this in mind and very simple!!!!
I have an existing pair up and the pole they are on will be staying.. Its the width thats confusing me I like the width of the pair thats up so i've measured one and its 108 inches. When I buy the ready made pair will the size on the pack be per curtain?? Sorry im being so very stupid but I just dont get measuring things lol

Re: Curtains

Yes lass, it will be size per curtain but, if you're really unsure, ask the person selling them if being bought in a shop, but don't forget to check the drop (length) as well.

Re: Curtains

Thanks Mollie.. im ok ordering on the length as these are too short and in fact are not even the same length even though the pole is level!! I cant seem to see widths over 90" so seeing as I need 108" twice would 2 x 66" per side be ok? Its quite a big window so it'd carry the extra gathering? Im really sorry for my mental measuring block!!! Im highly embarrased!!

Re: Curtains

I'm not brilliant at this sort of stuff either Cassie, but it depends on how much gather you want. The wider the curtains, the more gather you'll have.

Do you draw your curtains, or do you just use them as side drops?

My front window is 6ft across and I never close my curtains. I have them wide enough to draw straight across at the top, then swag them back on hooks and pleat them down best I can, if you understand what I mean.

What's the width of your window?

Re: Curtains

What I meant by 108" is thats what each existing curtain measures and im fine with it but more gathering would also be ok if I have to go for 4 curtains not 2 as I cant find anything thats anywhere near 108" wide per curtain in ready made. My actual gap is 7ft 9" but im fitting on a pole hence my measuring the existing curtains (and making sure the length is longer)

Re: Curtains

I haven't bought new curtains in years to be honest but 66" is approx 2 yards per curtain across, so if you have four it will be more than enough to cover an (approx) 8ft window.

A fink!
