Silly Job Titles

Local government and NHS seem to specialise in unintelligable or plain silly job titles. Any examples to amuse and perplex us?

Re: Silly Job Titles

Years ago I had a job as a lorry driver's mate. One day we had to make a delivery to a large oil refinery & chemical works. On arrival we were told to report to the 'Styrene Monomer Foreman'

My Mum used to tell me that if I didn't do well at school I'd have to get a job as a 'Saggar Maker's Bottom Knocker'

I believe Stan used to be a rocket scientist before he had an affair with the bosses wife.

I believe they're now called “Environmental Officers” Dobra.
You know all these swanky titles and job descriptions could backfire on them.

I went for a job interview once, it was a first class company and they were looking for someone to fill an executive position. I had all the latest bullshit jargon on my CV, Good people skills. Staying cool and confident under pressure. Thinking on my feet. Good at going that extra mile.
“That’s very impressive” says he “What did you do before?”
“I used to be a Bus Conductor”

Re: Silly Job Titles

I was just talking about this topic in the pub last week, they want everyone to look like experts with these stupid name descriptions, the result is you can’t find a real expert when you want expert advice. I would never slag anyone doing a job not matter what it was, God knows they are only paid buttons as it is, but when a company advertises that “All our staff are experts” and you walk in and first chap that serves you doesn’t know his arse from his elbow, that is not only a lie but it also embarrasses the staff.

Re: Silly Job Titles

I think at one time when I lived in the US they started calling dustmen "sanitation engineers"…Wonder if they still do?
